Although we are full of praise and gratitude for those members of the public who are putting litter in the bins provided, or taking it home to their own bins, we have also seen some dogs pull rubbish out of the bins and spread it about in the vicinity, whilst their owners ignored them.
Not only does this make a mess and ruin the good work by others, it also endangers the dogs, who might choke or get cut by something in the rubbish.
Please keep your dog on a lead in the vicinity of the rubbish bins to prevent this happening.
Also, please remember that it is a Northampton Borough Council policy applicable to all our parks that dogs must be kept on a lead in children’s play areas.
For obvious safety reasons, we also recommend that dogs are kept on a lead whilst in the car-parks.
