Grass & trees are very, very dry, so HIGH RISK OF FIRE. Don’t let this happen to our Parks.

Please be exceptionally careful when in our Parks this summer. Due to the extreme dryness of the grass, shrubs and trees, even a discarded bottle might cause a fire to start. So please make sure to not drop any litter.

Barbecues and open fires  are NOT allowed anywhere within our Parks and anyone caught lighting or tending one is liable for prosecution under the Criminal Damage Act 1971 for arson. In particular, damage caused to the Iron Age Hillfort constitutes criminal damage under the Ancient Monuments and Archaeological Areas Act 1979 and the perpetrators can be prosecuted and taken to court.

If you see anyone messing about with fire, please report it to NBC at 0300 330 7000, so that the Park Rangers can be alerted. If you think criminal damage is being, or is likely to be, caused, please ring the police using 999.

Please heed the signs.
