On Sunday people will be getting up in the dark all round the globe to be ready to enjoy nature’s greatest symphony.
We won’t be organising an event for the Day this year because of COVID regs, but our intrepid chairman will be there to open the gates (for both Ladybridge Park and the Country Park) at 4 a.m., so that you can all get up and into the Parks before dawn to enjoy the spectacular birdsong that you will hear there.
Sunrise is at 05:32 a.m. on Sunday, so you probably need to be up and ready at about 4 a.m. to get a good seat for the best of the dawn chorus. It’ll be a chilly 5°C apparently, feeling like 3°C, so make sure to wrap up warm.
If you snack while there, please take your litter home.
If you want to know more about the history of International Dawn Chorus Day, and hear examples of the bird song you are likely to hear, go to The Wildlife Trust’s dedicated page.
