Hunsbury Hill Centre Community Festival

Northants ACRE are holding their first Community Festival on Sunday 5th September in The Barns at Hunsbury Hill Farm. Should be a lot of fun, and it’s FREE !

We are teaming up with Hunsbury Hill W.I. and will be putting up our gazebo to provide information about us and our activities (and HHWI’s) as well as having something to keep children busy.

The W.I. will be bringing Suzy the Suffragette so you can have your picture taken with her, and there will be a competition to guess her weight.

We hope to see you there.

Heritage Open Days : STRICTLY HARROWING

Subject to approval from West Northamptonshire Council, for our Heritage Open Days event this year, we are again going to get our Wild Flower Meadow chain harrowed, but this year it won’t only be William, our favourite Shire horse, doing the harrowing.

This year, we are holding what might be a World First ~ Strictly Harrowing. A competition between humans and horse, to see who is best at pulling the chain harrows over the meadow to help scarify the grass and spread the flower seeds.

Specialist gym, Unit 22, from Far Cotton, have agreed to get a team up to see if they can do it. What do you think ? Come along to cheer them on ~ or to cheer William on if he’s your favourite. Timings and competition rules are on our website.

We’ll have some colouring sheets for the kiddies and a craft stall for the grown-ups, along with our usual badges, stickers and leaflets to give away, so we’re hoping it will be a lot of fun. Please come and enjoy yourselves.

We are grateful to local estate agent, Chris Stone of Horts, who is sponsoring this event, for the funding that he has provided which has enabled us to organise it.

National Tree Planting Week

Rotary Club of Northampton West will be obtaining some trees to plant and are liaising with idverde to choose species, numbers, size, and potential planting locations.

This year, National Tree Planting Week is Sat. 27th November to Sun. 5th December, so we anticipate helping Rotary and idverde to plant them then.

Other things

Thinking further ahead, we are still hoping to organise an astronomy evening in early 2022, involving telescopes and moon-gazing.

In the meantime you can always enjoy our Tree Trail and can buy Northampton Lottery  tickets using our dedicated page at any time. This QR Code will take you straight there :

Be sure to enjoy the Wildflower Meadow and the Bluebell Wood, but with the latter, please do stick to the established paths round the edge of the wood so as not to squash or damage the flowers.

Remember to keep an eye on this website and on our Facebook page for updates.
